Let's Scrap Leap Around the World Blog Hop!

Hello and welcome to your next stop in the

If you came here from Elizna Parson's blog at http://www.eliznaparsons.blogspot.com/, then you are in the right place! If you did not, Mindi Brown at http://scrapchat-n-coffeetalk.blogspot.com/ has the hop order to help you find your way.

I am so excited to be a part of this incredible blog hop! This is my first time as a blog hostess and when I have participated in blog hops before, never have I see a blog hop so huge!! We have 50 hostesses on this hop!!
For those of you who are not members of Let's Scrap or just learning about them, they are an online community of scrappers and card creators motivating each other to do what they love(which is scrapping) by posting sketches and sample layouts. This is the most supportive community of scrappers I have been a part of and they are such a friendly community and so interactive! The sketches are fantastic and unlike any other sketches you've seen before!
We would love for you to join us in our creative endeavors and look forward to getting to know you!

And now without further ado, here is my sketch that I am showcasing for this sweet hop:

Here is my creation of this sketch:

Since it is February, I had to make a Valentine's Day card. The patterned papers are from My Mind's Eye "Love Nest" glitter paper stack and then pink, blue, and red cardstock for the sentiment. I made the heart-shaped cut out with my Cricut using George and Basic Shapes cartridge. The sentiment is made using the Celebrate with a Flourish cartridge. Plus, I added a lil' bit of sparkly pink ribbon along the right side of the card.

Now for the fun part! Here is the blog candy I'm giving away(my first giveaway...so exciting)!!

Bo Bunny's "Forever Your's" cardstock stickers, Flora Doodles various pink and brown petaloo flowers, various pink fibers(the ribbon I used on in my card is from this fiber pack but don't worry, I used my own pack. :) ), and My Mind's Eye's Lost and Found Madison Avenue 6x6 paper stack.

Here is how easy it is to enter for my random draw:
  • Be or become a member of Let's Scrap which you can do by clicking here:  http://letsscrap.ning.com/ It is free, easy, and fast! Once you get there, I'm sure you will love it!
  • Become a follower of my blog
  • Leave me a comment about your favorite Valentine's Day memory or what you love about V-Day with a way to contact you(blog address, email, Let's Scrap profile name)
And if you would like a second chance in the draw:
  • Make a card from the sketch I have posted and upload it to the gallery at Let's Scrap. Please tag it exactly like this: 9-21-11, LEAP3.  There are no spaces between numbers and dashes but there is a space after the comma, and then LEAP must be all capitalized with NO space between LEAP and 3. If it is not tagged correctly, it will be a mess b/c of the way ning runs the site.
  • Leave a comment with a link to your card on Let's Scrap on my blog.
The hop ends at 11:59 p.m. Central Standard time February 29th, which you will be able to track using the clock on the main page on Let's Scrap.
Thank you so much for participating and I can hardly wait to see your fun creations and see some new faces on Let's Scrap!!

Your next stop will be the talented Betty Anne Orr on her blog http://letsgetscraphappy.blogspot.com/. If you get lost along the way or have joined in the middle of the hop, Mindi Brown at http://scrapchat-n-coffeetalk.blogspot.com/ is the beginning of the hop and has the blog line-up. You don't want to miss any of the fun!!

  3. Hi, Jennifer, love your card. I really appreciate when someone uses the "negative" as you have done with the larger heart on your card. Quite crafty!

  4. Love your card!

My favourite Valentine's memory was 10 years ago, this year, when I had my very first date with my husband. We had met online and decided (after four days) that we needed to meet in person. We knew we would be married that very night, so here we are 10 years together and will be married 9 years in May.

My favorite Valentine's day memory was when my husband asked me to stop by his work on my way back from lunch and he had a HUGE balloon and Dr. Pepper for me to take back to my office. It was perfect. I loved it!

What I love about Valentine's? Valentine's is not as big here as it is in the US but what I do like is the fact that it makes you think about the people you love and why they are so special.

  18. So excited that the blog has finally started, being in Australia, I am like 15 hours ahead of you girls and have been waiting an extra day.. now I wake up this morning bright and early and can FINALLY start playing with.. yipeee... thank you for all the hard work.. you girls are doing a great job ! I just love your example cards and Debby has been doing a great job on the card sketches.. wow, how busy is she !!!
Have been a member of Let's Scrap forever and am a member of your blog (which is awesome) ! (lol) AND will be making a card soon and will post link here.

Re your question: One year my hubby (then boyfriend) woke up and didn't do anything for me for valentines day.. I was so upset.. thought he didn't love me.. anyhow..spent the whole day sad.. then he fetched me after work and we went to Drag Racing to work on cars and I spent the night crying on his friends shoulder about how he didn't love me.. anyhow.. when we got back to his place that evening, he told me to go inside and he would catch up.. when I opened the door.. the entire room was made up with roses hanging from the ceiling, teddy bear on the bed, rose petals everywhere and a huge card.. was so special.. I just burst into tears.. (take note we only got back after midnight so it wasn't Valentines anymore.. but it was the thought that counted..LOL).. he is such a romantic..

  19. I'm a long-time LS member, and I follow your blog, Jennifer! Your card is so cool....love the mix of patterns and colors, and the sentiment on the big heart.
I'm not a mushy love person, so Valentine's Day itself doesn't mean too much to me....I think love should be special on every day of the year! But my fondest memory of the holiday is grade school, when kids still made their valentines for classmates, the teacher had a special fancy box to put them in, and we all were so excited and antsy all day until after lunch, when the teacher FINALLY started to pass out the treasured Valentines and goodies she had purchased. Silly, but it really was a treat in the 50s!!!

  20. Love the cut-out hearts on your card! I've been a member of LS, and I've joined your blog =) My favorite v-day memory was the last v-day before my hubby & I had kids. We spent the weekend at a quaint little inn on the beach, had a romantic afternoon picnic right on the beach, and then stayed until we could watch the sun set over the ocean =)

My favorite Valentine Day was 4 years ago, Dave & I's first Vday together. I like to wake up and bug him in the morning and he likes to sleep in. He told me to leave him alone & go make my coffee...When I opened the coffee can in it was a little yellow post it note that said Happy Valentines Day...Of course I smiled and thought it was SO sweet...when I took it out, under it was a heart necklace! And I still wear it to this day...even after having broke it while sleeping one night, I found all the beads and fixed it! :)

I joined your blog and one of my fond memories was two years ago. We had this evening planned on going out to our special restaurant. When my dh got home, we decided to jump into the pool and open a bottle of bubbly...well went we got out of the pool, we were both a little tips as we had two bottles in the end:) never got to the restaurant - had leftover KFC that was in the fridge and sound asleep at 9.30:) We always laugh as we think back on that night as we are both in our mid fifties!
