Easter Bunny Shape Card

Aaahh!! Gotta love late night creations...or is it early, early morning creations?? Well anyways, hope everyone had a great Friday and hope Saturday is even better. I just finished making my first shaped card. I finally did some experimenting in Cricut Craft Room and watched some tutorials on youtube and figured it out. I had troubles the other night getting the layers to match up but this time I just layered them all together and then took them apart again to get the right colors for each layer. There might be an easier way to do all of this, but at the moment this is all I've figured out so far. LOL!
I made this super cute, lil' bunny Easter card. It is from the Celebrate with a Flourish cartridge and it's just a great cartridge. I like to buy cartridges that are able to be used year round or for the most part and only buy the occasional only-for-this-certain-category type cartridges. This cartridge is definitely one that everyone needs to have for all those special holidays/occasions!
So like I said above, I designed all of this in the cricut craft room and then took everything apart to do each layer at a time and the bottom layer I had to flip one of them and then kind of weld it together to make the shape card. It's kind of flimsy in a way b/c it's only one lil' part on the ear that's holding it together but stronger than I thought it would be. It even stands up!! The brown part of the bunny I embossed using my birds and swirls cuttlebug embossing folder. I positioned it just right so you can't really even see the birds but more of the swirls. I'm very excited since I just got my cuttlebug this past week and this is my first card I've used it on. :D

The inside I kept pretty simple. At this point I was too happy that I finally got everything matched up correctly! I just stamped Happy Easter on this inside and cut around that with some fancy scissors and that's it!!

I am submitting this card for Bitten by the Bug 2's challenge which is to use a bunny or chick in your project...I think there may be a chick shape card in the future now...This card makes me want a chocolate bunny. lol Where did I put that chocolate?...

Have a great weekend everyone and thanks for looking!!

  3. Great job with your shaped card! Love the colors. One thing I do when making a shaped card is I weld a bit farther down so there is more on the fold, then I cut a first mat in the same shape as the front of the card and glue it on before your subsequent layers so from the front there's a full image. It makes it stronger. Does that make sense? In any case, your card is fabulous. Thanks for joining us at BBTB2. xxD
