Colored Deviled Easter Eggs

Hi everyone!

I'm sure many of you are gearing up for Easter and with that I'm also going to be sharing something I tried out today that I picked up from a few different Pinterest links!

So for Easter, one of my favorite foods I look forward to eating are Deviled Eggs. I'm sure a lot of you also can agree with this statement. Well this year I found the idea off of Pinterest to make colored Deviled Eggs!

You will need:
Vinegar
Cups
Food Coloring(I used McCormick's Neon food dye)

Then whatever you use to make your deviled eggs.
Hard-boiled eggs
Mayo(I use olive oil mayo by Kraft)
Mustard

You fill your cups 2/3 of the way full with 1 tsp. of vinegar and then add 3 drops of food dye to each cup for each color. Mix then up and then add your halved egg whites. I was able to add 3 halved egg whites to each cup. I was also multi-tasking and dying eggs at the same time. The purple takes a very long time to get the deep color that I got, so I added a lot more drops of dye to speed the process up.

I forgot to take a picture, but once you reach your desired color, let them dry on a paper plate lined with paper towels and then once dry, fill 'em up and gobble 'em up!!
So pretty and soooooo yummy!!

Happy Easter everyone!!

Nutella Frappe

Ok..I had to do it...I had to make another coffee drink. So one of the blogs I follow called A Beautiful Mess posted in May about making your own Mocha Chip Frappe which obviously I just had to try. Well I froze my coffee in an ice cube tray last night and this morning realized that I didn't have the exact ingredients for the recipe.

I didn't have chocolate ice cream, chocolate chips, or white milk at all!! But what I did have was vanilla ice cream, nutella, and chocolate milk. hehe....so I experimented with that.

So your ingredient list will look like this for my take on this recipe:

  • 4 coffee ice cubes
  • 1/3 cup chocolate milk
  • 2 tbsp. nutella
  • 2 scoops of ice cream
Put all this in your blender and grind it up good and try to get those ice cubes broken up as best you can. They'll still melt and add the yummy coffee taste eventually.

It was so rich and chocolaty and the hint of coffee taste was so perfect. I wish I could tell you I took a picture of this but the sad thing is(kind of) is that I drank it all up before I even thought I should probably take a picture first. Sorry about that. Maybe I'll add a picture later when I've made another one.

So there's my take on this yummy recipe. I've linked back to the original recipe above if you want to check it out and maybe you'll try one of these or concoct your own version.

Happy tastin'!

Pinterest D.I.Y. Coffee Creamer

Hi everyone,

Hope you all have had a great Sunday as it draws to an end to start another work week. We got the chance to hang out with friends that we haven't had the chance to hang out with in months! We had supper and caught up with each other at Buffalo Wild Wings and then afterwards we went to see The Dark Night Rises again. Bill and I had seen the midnight showing of it but this was our friend's first time seeing it. It was so good we didn't mind seeing it again.

I wanted to just share another pinterest idea I tried recently for making your own coffee creamer. I just can't have my  coffee plain! Must have flavor and I'm hoping that this will save on money and also having just 3 ingredients in it is awesome!! I have a few different versions of it that I have pinned but this one is using syrup.

You will need:

14oz. sweetened condensed milk
14oz. milk
2 tsp. of whatever syrup you want to use.

I used chocolate syrup and it's sugarless which is great! Once you have all your ingredients you just put everything in a mason jar and mix it up!

All mixed up and ready to put in your coffee!! It was so yummy and SIMPLE to make!!
I'm thinking next time I might mix it up by putting in some chocolate syrup and caramel syrup.

Make some yourself and save some money and calories!!

Have a great week everyone!

Cake Batter Milk Shakes

Hi everyone!

So as promised, I'm going to show you what I mad for dessert Tuesday night. This is not an original idea and I found it on a blog I follow called "A Beautiful Mess". You can find the original post for this dessert HERE.

I made cake batter milkshakes!! Such a genius idea and so good! I didn't exactly follow their recipe in terms of quantity as they used the whole cake mix and their servings it makes is 3-4. Mine might be more than that as when I mixed up the cake mix minus the eggs and started mixing in the ice cream and milk, I thought it would be too much chocolate for me. GASP!! Yes, I just said that. I did not measure anything so I can't tell you exact measurements. I want to say it's a scoop of the cake mix and then you can just play with the milk to ice cream ratio to get your desired consistency.

In terms of flavor for the milkshake, I chose to use a Duncan Hines Dark Chocolate Fudge cake mix and then instead of chocolate ice cream(fear of too much chocolate especially since the hubby would be drinking it) I just used vanilla.

I made them last night as well for my parents since I still had some cake mix left(I just refrigerated it) and even my dad said that he wouldn't have too much of it since it is so rich. And guess what....?? I STILL have leftover cake mix to make more of it! So really, I have made 5 servings of it so far and I still have quite a bit of cake mix left to use. But again, it depends on your tastes and how rich/chocolaty you want it. You're just going to have to play with your food!! You can definitely taste the cake batter in it and it's a yummy texture. By the way, it really helps to have a working blender. :/ Give it a try!

Give it up...you know you want some. ;)

Oven Baked Chicken Fajitas

So last night I finally got back in the kitchen again. I have such a blast on Pinterest looking at the food and all the other crafting stuff as you well know so I went to one of my food boards and decided on making Oven Baked Chicken Fajitas. You can find the original recipe HERE.

For the most part I did stick to the original recipe but I did add my own small additions to it. I only did a 10oz. can of the tomatoes with chilies as I couldn't find a 15 oz. can and instead of 1/2 a red and 1/2 a green pepper, I just added a whole green pepper to the dish. I also had to add a 14oz. can of black beans! Love black beans and I thought it was a good choice! It turned out fantastic and it was a rainy day yesterday so I had a cool home to work in and didn't have to worry about the oven making it hot and unbearable to work in.

Here's how it turned out!

Added sour cream and cheddar cheese to it and it definitely hit the spot!

By the way, I got some green pepper plants and jalapeno plants from my friend Tiff and I potted them and I finally have some jalapenos forming!! The green peppers are taking longer but it looks like they are starting to get buds on them now. I can't believe they are still alive! I want a garden someday sooo bad but I've been such a plant killer. Usually by drowning them....these planters help drain the excess water though. I used to love helping my grandparents with their garden and eating their fresh cucumbers and strawberries...mmm...

Well anyways, I'd better get some work done. It won't do itself! Wait till you see what I made for dessert last night!! So fantastic!!

Happy hump day everyone!

4th of July Events

Hi everyone!

Hope you all had a great 4th of July yesterday!! I had fun doing our usual: We had supper and then headed over to the Capitol and listened to the symphony play and then watched the fireworks they light off at the Capitol. It was probably the coolest 4th of July we've had in a while. Most certainly one of the cooler days this week!!

Here's our breakfast that we started 4th of July off with. Again, courtesy of Pinterest.

So yummy!!!

I also have some better pictures from yesterday's craft. My hubby takes much nicer pics than me trying to get the right angle of myself. lol!

I did find another use for the rosette I made that I ended up not using. I just added a saftey pin to the back and added it to my outfit yesterday!!

A couple more pics of my rosette headband! I just love how it turned out!!

Let's get closer...

And now I'll share a few photos from our fun 4th of July evening!!

Bill and I on the Capitol grounds saving a spot for the rest of the family.

I love how many people show up for this every year. It goes pretty far back as you can see.

Every year, they leave some lights on in the Capitol to spell out the "4th".

I captured some good pics of the fireworks I think...

Thanks for taking a look and have a great Thursday everyone. Friday is almost here!!

4th of July B-Fast and Rosette Headband

Hi everyone,

So in honor of upcoming 4th of July, I decided I had to have a festive breakfast today and tomorrow. My breakfast(courtesy of Pinterest), was toast with cream cheese spread on it, then strawberry jelly over that, and then layer your blueberries and bananas to look like the American flag. It was very yummy. My husband tried one that I made for him with peanut butter and he said he liked that one better. I did not try it but the cream cheese was good, but I have a feeling I would also like the peanut butter one better.

Peanut Butter one on the left, cream cheese on the right.

I also decided to make a headband to wear tomorrow for the 4th's festivities. I'm very please with the results and hopefully I will have better pictures tomorrow after wearing it.

So here are my supplies: 3 different kinds of ribbon, a white headband, felt, rhinestones(which I ended up not using), and also a glue gun and scissors.

I also used these Glubers that you can find in the scrapbooking section. They were a nice sticky base to start my rosette and then I just added hot glue to the sides to really hold my rosettes together. Then you just add some felt to the other sticky side of the gluber.

Here are my three twisted and rolled rosettes.

I then hotglued the rosettes onto the headband...I ended up not wanting to use the patterned white rosette...I'm sure I'll think of something to use it for tomorrow. :)

Here's a slightly better photo.

Hope you have a happy 4th and we'll see you tomorrow!!

Merry Christmas + Our Festivities

Merry Christmas everyone!!

I hope you all had a great holiday. I can't believe we have no snow on the ground!! I really thought it would try to blizzard Christmas Day again but no!! It has been so long since we've had a dry & brown Christmas!! We are finally alone again in our apartment and winding down from the holiday weekend.

The gifts I made for everyone were a hit with both the kids and adults! Here is the gifts I made for the kids(didn't post this yet):

It's a jar filled with red cordial cherry m&m's and the tag says "Rudolph's Spares". I got the idea off another blog I follow...but I can't remember  whose it was now!

My scrapping loot I received from my family.

Bill, Nightfury, and I on Christmas Eve after spending the night at his family's place opening gifts and going to the 11:00 p.m. candlelight service.

We decided to open our gifts to each other when we got home Christmas Eve. I gave Bill the Back to the Future trilogy on blu ray. He was really excited.

Nightfury observed all the festivities.

Bill likes to put weird things in my gifts to throw me off. I'm a really good guesser at what my gifts are from him. This time he put my weights in the box.

He gave me Carmen performed by the met on dvd. It was from last years season. We saw it at our local theatre , live in HD. It was one of the best Carmen's I've seen!!

I made Pillsbury's recipe for an ornament tree crescent rolls.

Yummy!!

You spread a cream cheese, sour cream, dill, and garlic powder mixture over the top and add your favorite veggies on top. This is my favorite way to eat veggies. lol With lots of cream cheese!!!

Washed my poinsettias dishes my mom didn't want anymore for Christmas dinner.

One side of our spread: Crescent veggie rolls, more veggies, fruit platter, meat and cheese platter. ..

Desserts, drinks, cheddar cheese ball, pepper jack cheese ball and crackers, cheesy potato and sauerkraut padaha!!

My side of the family eating on Christmas day...my hubby is such a poser...:P

I made little Santa strawberries...found this idea on pinterest!

I think they are so cute and so easy to fix up!!

Stuffed and getting ready to open gifts.

My parents got us each a soft blanket from Sam's Club. SOOOOO SOFT!!!

My sister's boyfriend joined us later after he hung out with his family. Bill and I got the red blankets and my sister and her boyfriend got the blue blankets!
Everyone have a great holiday break if you're in the school districts(I'll be working full-time at Hobby Lobby now until school resumes next week) and have fun planning your resolutions for the new year. I know I'll be busy doing that...I have many goals I'm thinking about!

Have a great night!!

Since Sunday happenings this week...

A few things that have happened since Sunday...

We received our first gifts for Christmas from my husband's Aunt and Uncle...Glittery, white poinsettias!

The pretty snowflake pot they came in!

A close-up--lots of glitter!!

They also gave us a big box of fruit!--Apples, oranges, grapefruits, and pears! Oh my!!

I then decided to have chocolate dipped oranges Sunday night...:)

Monday night I finally got all my quart sized jar gifts fabric-ed and tagged.

I'm so excited to give these for Christmas this year!

Bill and I only had our gifts(2) to each other under the tree so far....
...and then my parents dropped off all of their gifts so they don't have so much to bring into town to our place on Christmas day....our tree is kind of throwing up now with gifts...

Tuesday, my husband made a huge batch of puppy chow for his Wednesday night marathon of watching Lord of the Rings on blu-ray with his guy friends.

Today(Wednesday) I went over to my Aunt's, bright and early, to make padaha with my mom and my aunt for Christmas dinner. Mashing up some cheesy potatoes.

This isn't even close to the amount we made today. We made cheesy potato and sauerkraut. I love the sauerkraut!! This is my quick sneak photo before my aunt yelled at me for having them uncovered.

Heart attack in a pan...lots of buttery onions to put on top after they are made.

They're boilling....we didn't lose too many in the pot today.

Rolling in the dough....hehe!

I love being Ukrainian and this is a traditional Ukrainian Christmas dish.
Now if I can just keep my hands off of them until Christmas....Wish me luck!!
