Let's Scrap Sketch 11-28-12

Hi everyone!

New sketch this week at Let's Scrap and it's our last sketch with this term's Design Team. Ladies, I have enjoyed getting to know you and working with you and for those of you who did not reapply, I know we will still see you around Let's Scrap.

Here is our final sketch this term:
I saw this sketch and knew it was perfect for our trip to Mt. Rushmore.

 Some close-ups:

The president embellies I got in the park and they were these huge, thick foam embellies. I cut the foam off as I did not want to have to worry about my page bubbling up and not fitting in the book properly.
I also got these president quotes in the park and trimmed off the matting so you just saw the scroll-like paper for the quotes.

Thanks for taking a looksie and hope you were able to play along with us this week at Let's Scrap!

Just Shellin' Layout

Hi everyone!
Happy hump day. Just sitting here tonight at Barnes and Noble having a java chip frappucinno. I really feel like a real blogger now. ;) The hubby and I carpooled today and he works both jobs today. It's quite the happening place here--lots of college kids doing their homework.

Any who, it's a new sketch today at Let's Scrap. This is one of our winners for our sketch contest we held last month and it's by Judy Rakes. Such a fun sketch and I knew exactly going to do with it.
Here is my take on it:
This was at the Reptile Gardens in SD and it was my first time touching and being this close to a giant tortoise. When I saw these shapes, I thought it would work well for this giant tortoise layout. It was really hot this day and they had the right idea and were on the "fast" track to finding some shade to chill in.
So I thought this title was appropriate...hehe...
Added some journaling with my silver gel pen.
I had to add this sweet little turtle from the Create a Critter cartridge.

Come on over and try out our sketch this week and thanks for taking a look. Have a great night!!

Scenic Route Layout

Happy Tuesday everyone!!
It's nice and sunny out today and a little bit of our snow is melting.
Today's creation is for our DT member Kristine's challenge at Let's Scrap which is to make a layout using polaroids. She shows you how you can mat your photos so that they look like polaroids. I have been wanting to do this for a while and I finally have done it thanks to her challenge. You can view her challenge HERE.

Here is the Let's Scrap sketch I used for this challenge:

And here is my take on this challenge:
This was on our SD trip that we took to go camping and visit Mt. Rushmore. On our way into SD, we decided to take the Peter Norbeck National Scenic Byway route to our campsite. I'm glad we did this right away b/c it was quite long but it was a gorgeous route and there was so much to see. I loved the one lane, narrow tunnels that you would have to honk your horn before you went through and when you came through on the other side, you saw Mt. Rushmore in the distance, framed by beautiful greenery. I got some great photos of this.
Lots of fun traveling stickers that I added to make my title...
...and besides journaling on each picture, I also added some more stickers as embellishments.
Also added some pretty butterflies to my pretty, botanical papers and some arrows that have maps on them. They blended in a little bit with the papers, so I also inked them with Tim Holtz's Tea Dye distress ink. Love how this layout turned out and I will definitely be making more polaroid layouts in the future.

You have until Thursday, 11:59 p.m. to play along with her challenge.

Thanks so much for visiting!

That's What I Love About You

Hi everyone!

Today's creation was for last week's Let's Scrap sketch challenge. Here is last week's sketch:

And here is my take on it:

I decided to use my pocket that says "10 Things I Love About You" and do a layout about my hubby and what I love about him. I tried to pick photos that went with my 10 things. The title I made using Plantin Schoolbook cartridge and the owl is made from Create a Critter 2.

Quick and simple layout! Thanks for taking a look and have a great weekend!

I Found a Mustache Let's Scrap Design Team Challenge 147

Hi everyone! I posted my Design Team challenge for Let's Scrap this past Friday and I'm really excited to see what everyone creates for this one. It's kind of, sort of a color challenge!

Your challenge is to create a layout(no cards please) with your main background paper being black and using black and white photos. You may then pick a color scheme for your embellishments. I was really thrilled with how mine turned out--the colors just pop when you have a black background and black and white photos!!

Here is my take on it: First off, this is my goofy husband. He sent me these photos of him to my phone when I was scrapping at a friend's house with the message saying, "I found a mustache!" It is a parentheses scrapbooking embellishment. Even guys like scrappy stuff!! I found these uber cute mustache brads at Hobby Lobby and Cricut cuts online! I embossed my mustaches with Cuttlebug's Swiss Dots embossing folder and the banner is embossed using a Tim Holtz alterations sunburst folder. I love the textures so much!! The quote just above the mustaches says, "The mustache made me do it!"
I got my color scheme from http://design-seeds.com/ I love this pretty Toucan bird! Just gorgeous!!
Here is the Let's Scrap sketch I used to make this layout:
I will be giving away a small RAK to one lucky member that participates in my challenge. Come check out the rest of the details and play along HERE.

Go now and let's see what kinds of colors you can make pop!!

Let's Scrap Card Sketch 10-17-12

Hi everyone!

Happy Saturday! Hope you are enjoying your weekend and doing some fun stuff and relaxing from the work week. In case you missed it, a new card sketch was released this past Wednesday at Let's Scrap.

What I came up with for this sketch:
Yes I know. It's another Halloween card. October is almost over and I'm going to keep creating Halloween cards and projects for as long as I can! So for this card I used patterned papers from DCWV's Halloween and Fall stack. I added a doily and inked around it with Tim Holtz's Black Soot distress ink. I then added an orange frame from the Happy Haunting's cartridge and cut out Frankin Stein's Bride's profile and 2 skulls to my card. I finished my card off by adding 3 different sized black rhinestones and the sentiment Happy Hauntings from My Craft Spot's Happy Hauntings stamp set.

Voila!! I struglled with this sketch at first but I finally figured out what I was going to do and I'm really pleased with how it turned out.

Thanks for taking a peek and we'll see you tomorrow!

Let's Scrap Sketch 10-3-12--A Bear-y Cute Infestation

Hi everyone,

Almost Friday! Today I'm posting the new sketch this week over at Let's Scrap! Lots of photos on this one and I really enjoyed working with this sketch:

Here is my creation:

When we went on our vacation to South Dakota this summer, we visited Bear Country, U.S.A. A drive through "zoo" where you have bears walking in front of your cars as well as other animals. When you get to the end, you park and can walk inside baby land where they have all the baby animals and their main attraction--30-some bear cubs!! The youngest one there was 3 months old and they were so much fun to watch!! They loved climbing to the tips of the really skinny trees. We watched them for quite a while and I got a nice sunburn to prove that!

I used the cartridges "Create a Critter" to make the clouds, sun, and rainbow and also the cartridge "Campin' Critters" to make the bear and bear hiding in the trees. I added googly eyes to their bears. Like I always say, googly eyes make everything so much more fun! The "notebook" paper journal spot I made with cardstock and hole-punched one side for that freshly torn out look!

This has to be one of my favorite layouts this year so far. It's so cute!! It only helps that the photos are of bear cubs!

Thanks so much for stopping by tonight and I appreciate your comments and support! Have a great Friday tomorrow!

Happy Scrappin'!

Exciting News!!

Hi everyone!!

Hope you all are having an amazing weekend!! We visited our street fair and Papa's Pumpkin Patch yesterday and had a blast!

I have some exciting news to announce. Those of you who are on Let's Scrap and have been keeping up may have already heard this, but for those of you who don't, here is my news.

Let's Scrap was run by Debby de Wilde and Betty Anne Orr and they are an amazing duo of ladies who have done a fantastic job of running the site since they came into ownership of Let's Scrap. Recently though, Betty Anne has run into some serious health issues alongside her husband's health issues. It has caused her quite the stress and so she made the decision and has reluctantly stepped down as administrator with the hopes of returning some day. We are all praying for you and your family Betty Anne and know you will return when the time is right!!

So Debby, in search of some help with the site, has asked me and Mindi Brown(former DT and fantastic lady) to be her assistant administrators. I'm very excited as Let's Scrap is my favorite scrappy site and the community of ladies/scrappers we have is just phenomenal!! We have such supportive members and fantastic sketches and challenges and I only had one answer to Debby's question......yes!! Mindi has also accepted and it has been made official and we are so excited to be able to help Debby run the site and continue to inspire others!! It will be such a blast to work alongside these talented ladies!!

I'd also like to remind/announce that our sketch contest is still going on! If you like making sketches, now's your chance to enter some of those sketches into our contest!! The winner's sketches will be used by the DT and rest of the site for November's weekly sketch challenges!! Check out all the details HERE!! The details are on the top of the main page!

Let's Scrap Sketch 9-5-12--So Cozy

Hi everyone!!

New sketch again at Let's Scrap! This week's sketch is brought to you by Page Maps, who so graciously let us use their sketch this week at Let's Scrap!

Here is my take on this week's sketch!

Last year for Christmas, my hubby and I and my sister and her boyfriend all got these super soft blankets! The hubby and I got red ones and my sister and her boyfriend got blue ones. So naturally, we had to do a photo shoot with them! My cat loves these blankets!! Whenever he jumps on one and just before he lays down on it, he kneeds the blanket forever!!

The papers are from DCWV's Christmas stack and the huge present and fireplace are both cut from Cricut's "Joys of the Season". I stickled the title red and green and added some musical poinsettias and voila!

Check out Let's Scrap this week and play along with us!!

Happy Scrappin'!

Let's Scrap Sketch 8-22-12

Hi everyone!

The "A" team is rocking another new sketch from Let's Scrap this week. Here's your chance to play along and get your chance at our weekly prize!

Sketch 8-22-12:

My take on the sketch:

When we went down to visit our friends and our God daughter, we actually found a sitter and the adults were able to hang out for a little bit at Little Bangkok. The lanterns, temple, and dragonflies are all cut using the "Pagoda" cartridge. I love that cartridge...I love anything Oriental. Now I'm craving me some sushi!

Let's see what you come up with with this week's sketch!!

Happy scrappin' and thanks for taking a peek!

Let's Scrap 8-8-12 Sketch--Chomp, Chomp!

Hi friends,

A new Let's Scrap layout!! The "A" team is rocking the sketch on the main page!! Come and check us out!

Here is my take on the sketch!

This is definitely a favorite of mine. But I had issues with it when I was creating it. Just getting things to line up right and my pics fit differently on the page then when I was planning them. Oh well...I made it work and I love it now. The embellishments are all from Create A Critter cartridge and I just happened to have some alligator skin paper in one of my safari stacks to use on my gators. I also added googly eyes over the cut eyes as I think all things look better with googly eyes.

This was an alligator show at the Reptile Gardens in South Dakota. We had so much fun there and the instructor was basically showing us how to approach a gator from behind and how they feed. He was very informative and very hilarious!

Thanks for taking a look and make sure you check us out and play along over at Let's Scrap!

Let's Scrap 8-1-12 Sketch and start of 2nd Term

Hi everyone!

Brand new sketch this week at Let's Scrap and along with that is our reveal of the new DT's work! Come and check out our new ladies as well as  the DT members that have been with us before. We have lots of inspiration for you this week! I can't believe I'm on for a 2nd term!!

Here is my take on this week's sketch!

This was the beginning of July this year when we went on our vacation to South Dakota. We visited the Crazy Horse Memorial. It took them 60 years to complete what they have completed so far(mostly the face) and who knows when it will look like the top right picture. Probably not in my lifetime. It was very neat to see and learn the story about the family. The 9th daughter is the CEO sculptor currently!

Thanks for checking it out and please go and check out Let's Scrap to see what the new DT came up with as well!!

Let's Scrap 7-25-12 Sketch

Hi everyone!

It's time for a new sketch at Let's Scrap again! This is the last sketch of the April-July term and I will be missing the ladies that are leaving that have offered us so much inspiration these past 4 months. Thank you to those ladies and I know we'll still see you around at Let's Scrap. We have an awesome DT coming up though. Eight of us are staying but we have eight brand new DT members that have some major inspiration to share with us these next 4 months!!

Here is this week's sketch!

And here is my  take on it.

This was my first time trying out chevrons and I used Amarilys's tutorial to make them. This was the 100th Anniversary Celebration of Boy Scouts. I switched this layout up by adding the two embellishments on the photos to double as tabs...

...to open up and reveal more photos! I have 18 photos total on this layout. I'm hoping to gift this to someone not to be named just in case they happen upon this blog. lol!!

Thanks for taking a look and I'm very excited for later today as I will be hanging out with my friend Tiff and scrapping the day away!! There might be a few card creations thrown in there as well. :D

Have a great hump day everyone and thanks for stopping by! Your comments are appreciated!!

My Let's Scrap DT Challenge 140

Hi everyone!

Happy Monday! Today I am sharing you with a layout that I made for my Design Team Challenge which came out on Friday.

I have been looking through my mom's old photos and grabbing the ones I want of her side of the family and I came across a newspaper clipping of my parent's wedding. I knew that this would be my DT challenge.

This week over at Let's Scrap, my challenge is to use a newspaper clipping on your layout. It does not need to have photos on it as well but it does need to use a newspaper clipping as well as a Let's Scrap sketch. I happened to have photos of my parent's wedding, so I did use photos but photos are not a requirement.

Here's my example for the challenge:

As I said before, I was looking through my mom’s old photos when I found this newspaper clipping of their wedding announcement. I absolutely loved reading it as there is a paragraph describing the details of her dress which you just don’t see the newspapers doing anymore!
In this paragraph it says, “The bride chose a gown of polyester chiffon, featuring a Queen Anne neckline and keyhole back. The bodice and upper sleeve were trimmed in raschel lace and seed pearls. Her A-line skirt with pleated front panel and lace edging at hemline ended in a full length cathedral train. Her veil of French illusion net was also trimmed with matching lace and seed pearls”.

I inked around the doily and pretty much everything except the photos with victorian velvet Tim Holtz ink.

I went with a pink and brown  theme and since I didn't have pink flowers on hand, I took white flowers and inked them with the Victorian Velvet ink.
Then I had to add tons of fun pearls to the centers and around the flowers to give it a touch of elegance.
I used the Let's Scrap sketch 8-10-11 and I loved the funky title on it and I loved playing around with it and making each line different.
I also added 2 different sized pearls around the edges of my doily.

Thanks for looking and I hope you get a chance to play along with my challenge. You can check out the original challenge HERE.

Thanks again and have a good Monday!

Let's Scrap Sketch 7-11-15

Hi all,

New sketch again this week at let's scrap!

Here is my take on the sketch:

We celebrated 4th of July in our usual way which is after supper we had over to the Bismarck Capitol and sit on chairs/blankets on the Capitol lawn listening to the symphony play and later watch them light off fireworks. This 4th of July was probably one of the coolest 4th's we've had in a while.

See you later today and good luck with this week's Let's Scrap sketch!

Let's Scrap Sketch 6/13/12

Hi everyone!

Sorry that I've been MIA lately. I have been so exhausted with my two jobs lately and there have been a few nights where I have just come home for the night and have laid down on the bed and have woken up to realize I have fallen asleep with my clothes on and didn't even have any supper! Ugh..it will be nice when I can slow down and/or just have one job!! I'm hoping to get one layout done tonight and many more this weekend as I have the whole weekend off!!!! Amazing!

Anywho...today is another new sketch over at Let's Scrap and here it is:

And here is my take on it:

So this was at our YMCA's "Club Rewind" Zumbathon and it went for 2 hours!! The theme was to come dressed in clothes from your favorite decade. My sister and I chose the 80s...gotta love the 80s...I have done Zumba quite frequently but my sister has not. She experienced her first taste of Zumba at this event and she was there the full two hours and only sat out a few songs to catch her breath and get water. My husband was also asked to be the event photographer and so the pics of him he was showing his 80s wear(this was accidental but hilarious)! He was wearing his Back to the Future t-shirt and I gave him my Zumba wristband. lol So much fun!!

So come and play along with us this week at Let's Scrap!
