Startin' the New Year Out Right!

Hey everyone!

Hope you all had a great beginning to your New Year! I started mine out with a bang! My friend Tiff and I got together again for some serious scrappin'...a total of 9 hours. I have 3 new layouts today and I'm excited about them!!

This first one I absolutely just love!! It's a fave. already!! We are at Splash Mountain and  before I laid down all the pretty patterned paper, I spritzed the white cardstock with Tattered Angels blue glimmer spray to make it look like water splashes!! I cut out the banner and water slide from Cricut's cartridge "Carousel" and used Let's Scrap's 4-30-11 sketch and I am submitting this for ScrapFit's workout #60-Inspired by the Music. The song choice is Pat Benatar's "Love is a Battlefield" and where else can you feel young no matter what age you are but Disney World??

I wasn't sure I was liking how this was turning out as I was creating it, and now I'm so incredibly pleased with the results, it's not even funny! This is on the ride "It's a Small World". It is also using Let's Scrap's 8-25-10's sketch in which the right side folds open to reveal six more pictures!! I loved all of these colors!! This ride is definitely one of my fave's for its classic Disney feel and it's culture! It just reminds you of how beautiful and colorful the world is!!

My cute title! :D:D:D:D:D

This was amazing!! Eating in Cinderella's Castle and meeting the princesses was just too cool! This is another sketch from Let's Scrap and it's sketch number 12-28-11...It's this week's sketch actually!! It's also another fold-out sketch. The banner and title are made from Cricut's Carousel cartridge and I used various papers from the Once Upon a Time stack.  The round picture on the bottom right is Jacque and Gus in the rafters in the castle...they are my embellie to open/unfold to see the other pictures underneath.

Thanks for taking a peek and I hope your New Years started out as productive as mine did!! Have a great week everyone!

My Top 11 of 2011

Here is my top 11 of layouts I created from 2011:

1)
I love that the title is very story book like, the paper has text from a fairy tale and our wedding was a fairy tale themed wedding(hence our signs). These are also some of my favorite wedding photos . Ooh, and the quote we used on our invites, "Once in a while, right in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives us a fairy tale".  Also submitting this for ScrapFit's Weekend Warm-up #21
2)
I love all the combination of papers and color

3)
The background is a recycled gift bag from one of the wedding presents. Looks so real!!

4)
I love the patterned paper and the black, red, and white(our wedding colors also). The sketch was one of my favorites as well.

5)
Another sketch I really loved for fitting all my photos of the hotel from our honeymoon. Loved the paper and I loved that I made a pocket on the left side for the hotel's brochure as a keepsake but also doubling as a title.

6)
I loved the colors here and the sketch was challenging and so different! Love all the animal embellies here.

7)
I just love all of the color on this page. Since completing my wedding of mostly red, black, and white theme, I'm been dying to be able to use more color again! The chipboard embellies with the adjustable's were so fun and I loved creating two leaves at the top for journaling.

8)
The color scheme again was great! I loved all 3 areas in Disney World and the sketch was a fun one again!

9)
I loved this one for the sketch(so many sketches I love) and that I found a world globe to use and add Mickey ears to it.

10)
Again, fun sketch and LOTS of color!! Especially all the colored patterns on black!

11)
I love this one for the ice cream cone on the side. It was another fun challenge and instead of just making half circles, I used my fun scissors and scalloped them on the one side. It looks yummy, right?

So there is my top 11 of 2011! Some are in no particular order...it was very hard to choose...but I think I will be back later tonight after work with another post with my honorable mentions...There were so many I still thought were great!

Have a happy Thursday!!

ScrapFit Workout #57-Word of the Year

I am back again tonight!

ScrapFit's Workout 57 is to pick a word that best describes how you want to embrace the new year. I chose the word firework for Katy Perry's "Firework" song and the message of the song. This new year I want to be unstoppable and accomplish everything I want instead of holding myself back and keeping myself from accomplishing those things.

Here is my layout:
I included the lyrics to Katy Perry's song "Firework" and also a picture about  kind of living your life to the best you can that I find inspirational. In the bottom left hand corner are my goals for the New Year. This is kind of doubling as my inspiration board. I think I am going to frame this and pick a nice spot that I will see it and keep me focused.

I also took my title and used green stickles glitter on it. I wish I could capture the sparkliness of the title but I'm not that skilled at that. lol
Here is the close-up of the photo I used. I loved this the moment I first read it!
Some of the goals/resolutions I listed in my layout are:

  • Lose 40 lbs.
  • Exercise 3x a week
  • Drink Water(I know the first 3 are all working toward the same goal, but I wanted to make sure my goals were very specific this year so I have a good base to succeed).
  • Do at least 1 craft project a month that is not scrapbooking(I have so much on my pinterest boards that I want to try)
  • 365 Photo Challenge-1 photo a day~I used to take photos like crazy and I've been taking lots of photos for my blog, but I've noticed I haven't been taking much else...like of my husband and I or our life. We haven't had too much going on, but I want to take photos even of the simplest, everyday things. They don't have to be special occasions or holidays.
  • Read 2 books a month~I'm such a bookworm....however, I've been slacking this past year...I miss reading and I want to make time for it again even when I feel there is no time.
All of these goals are ways of fitting in "me" time. Being good to myself this year and being that firework that makes everyone say "oh, oh, oh".

I'm also planning on making more detailed lists elsewhere for keeping track and even more specific projects/goals that will help me accomplish the above goals.

Thanks for looking again and I wish everyone luck with their New Year's resolutions.

Challenge, Challenge, Challenge!

Three challenges completed today!!  I'm really excited about all three of these layouts. I think with all the wedding scrapbooking I was doing and most of the color schemes being red, white, and black that I'm completely ready for a world of color!! I'm loving all the color options I have now!

The first two page layout I did is for Sketchy Thursdays 9.15/Scrap Fit's F is for Friendship challenge #52. Considering I just married my best friend in this layout and we're on our honeymoon and visiting our furry animal friends...I thought it was appropriate. Also am going to enter it in the WWU challenge #14 which is to use buttons!

The second layout I did is in the Africa section of Animal kingdom. There's so much to see in Disney World and the things you see just walking along makes for some great pictures! I'm entering this next one in Sketchabilities challenge #55 and into Sketches in Thyme's Open Challenge!

The final two page layout is on the Kilimanjaro Safari ride in Animal Kingdom. So much fun and lots of animals to see!! I will be entering this one into Creative Scrappers Sketch #174. I really love this sketch and the layout is so fun!!

Oh and my Coral Reef layout was selected to be featured on Let's Scrap's site which I'm very excited about! Thank you for choosing me as one of the layouts to be featured! I just picked up my badge and am displaying it proudly on my blog! :)

Thanks for looking today and have a good rest of your Tuesday!!
